(b. September 9, 1898 - d. March 12, 1973)
|
A member of more NL pennant winners than any other
player, Frankie Frisch played in four fall classics
with the Giants and four with the Cardinals. He cracked
the .300 mark 13 times, scored 100 runs seven times,
and was the 1931 NL MVP. Named player-manager in 1933,
"The Fordham Flash" led the "Gashouse Gang" to the
world championship in 1934. He scored 1,532 runs in
his career while batting .316. |

Description: |
This strip card set is part of a larger set cataloged
as W580 which includes movie stars, boxers and other athletes. These
cards measure approximately 1-3/8" X 2-1/2". Fronts have black-and-white
player photos with a white border. In the bottom border is the player
name, position, city and league. Some cards can be found with a
"Former" designation before the position. Several variations are
known in team designations, indicating the set was probably reissued
at least once between 1928-31. Backs are blank. |
