Arky Vaughan

(b. March 9, 1912 - d. August 30, 1952)
|
One of the game's best hitting shortstops, only twice in 14 seasons did Vaughan fail to hit .300. In 1935, his .385 average for Pittsburgh led the NL. Arky notched a career .406 on-base percentage, .318 batting average, 1,173 runs, and 926 RBI. He scored more than 100 runs in five seasons, and he led the NL in putouts and assists three times. |

all-around and clean reverse. This has always been one of my favorite
images from the 1941 Play Ball set and I picked this card up in
October, 2000. |
