Card Details Below:
Year(s): 1911
ACC Set Designation: T332
Set Name: Helmar Stamps
Country: United States
Description: A collectible departure from the traditional tobacco cards of the period, Helmar Cigarettes in 1911 issued a series of small major league baseball player "stamps". The stamps, each measuring approximately 1-1/8" X 1-3/8", feature a black and white player portrait surrounded by a colorful, ornate frame. The stamps were originally issued in a 2" X 2-1/2" glassine envelope, which advertised the Helmar brand and promoted "Philately - the Popular European Rage." To date, 181 different player stamps have been found. The set includes as many as 50 different frame designs.
