Comments: I’ve always wanted a Red Border Colgans and Babe Adams was on my Fan Favorites list. I came across this example on eBay in late January, 2015 and I shot the seller an offer. He accepted and the card was mine. I was pretty happy with this pickup! |

ACC Set Designation: |
E254 |
Set Name: |
Colgan's Chips Red Borders |
Country: |
United States |
Description: |
This set, issued in 1912 by Colgan Gum Co., Louisville, KY., is very similar to the 1909-11 Colgan's release. Measuring about 1-1/2" in diameter, the black-and-white player pictures were inserted in tins of Colgan's Mint and Violet Chips gum. They are differentiated from the earlier issues bye their distinctive red borders and by the backs of the cards, which advises collectors to "Send 25 Box Tops" for a photo of the "World's Pennant Winning Team." The issue is designated as the E270 Red Border set in the American Card Catalog. |
