Comments: A 1951 Bowman was my first portrait card of Lou Boudreau. I purchased the card in November, 2002. That same month, I replaced it with a 1956 Rodeo Meats because I liked the image a lot more. It was submitted to PSA and came back GOOD 2. One of my friends in the hobby, Marty Pritchard, sold me a PSA 5 upgrade in January, 2003. You just don't see them any nicer than this. This card is actually a 1956 version and PSA mislabeled the holder. It is the highest graded example to date with slight corner wear and some staining. I've been looking for an upgrade ever since and have had zero luck.
UPDATE: In September, 2015 I received an email from a gentlemen looking to sell his 1955 Rodeo Meats Boudreau card. His asking price was a little high. I had the '56 version and thought it would be fun to add the inaugural issue to my collection. The seller was traveling to Colorado later in the week so we decided to meet in person. I made an offer and the card was mine. I was happy to add the card to show the difference on the backs - album advertisement. Here it is:
UPDATE: I’ve had an eBay search looking for “Rodeo Meats” saved to my account for what seems like ages. It’s rare for anything to come up in decent shape. Then, in December, 2021 my quest turned up a 1955 PSA 7 (MC) example on eBay. I was able to reach the seller and we came to an agreement on a sale. It was a great upgrade to my BVG 5 example with less staining, and nicer corners. |
