Jesse Burkett
|
(b. December 4, 1868 - d. May 27, 1953)
|
In the 1890s, the lefthanded-hitting Burkett hit over .400 two times.
A fine baserunner and bunter, the third-strike foul-bunt rule was
created due to Burkett's prowess at the art. "Crab" won three batting
titles in his career. He scored 1,718 runs, drew 1,029 walks, and
notched 2,853 base hits in his 16-year career. |

Comments: I purchased
this tribute card raw on eBay in April, 2003. It was submitted to
PSA in October and graded EX 5. It's a dream but someday I hope
to be in a position and have the means to buy a W600. There are
only a few copies in existence so the quest is most likely - impossible.
Wish me luck… |
