William
Harridge
|
(b. October 16, 1883 - d. April 9, 1971)
|
AL President from 1931 until 1959, William Harridge
stayed out of the limelight and quietly led the league
from the era of Babe Ruth to the era of Mickey Mantle.
An early supporter of the All-Star Game and night
baseball, Harridge was a tough, conservative executive
who insisted on order. |

Comments: I'm not aware
of another card for Harridge besides the 1956 Topps issue. In August,
2003 I won an eBay auction for a PSA 6. In February, 2005 I upgraded
to a GAI 7 purchased at the TriStar show in San Francisco, CA. In
July, 2010 I found this beautiful SGC 88 card and won the eBay auction
from seller Charlie Barokas (manontherock). |
