Comments: I purchased a 1986 TCMA All-Time Indians Joe Jackson card raw on eBay in August, 2000. It was submitted to PSA and received a MINT grade. Someday, I would like to replace the tribute with a W514 example. It's the only issue contemporary to Shoeless' career which matches the theme of my HOF collection - portraits only. I already have a Red Faber W514. So, I may need to swap it out with something else when I end up buying the Jackson. Here's the card:

UPDATE: When I hear 1919 I immediately think of the Chicago White Sox scandal, “Shoeless” and Field of Dreams.  How extensively did Joe Jackson participate in throwing the World Series? We’ll never know.  Assuming the worst, he must have changed his mind at the last minute.  He batted .375 and hit the only homer of the entire series.  There’s only one card of Shoeless Joe Jackson from his playing days that fits the portrait them of my collection and it’s a beautiful strip card.  They don’t come up for sale too often and they were considerably cheaper 10-15 years ago when I first became interested in acquiring one.  Unfortunately, I never purchased one.  In March, 2021 I found a SGC 2 example on eBay listed with a Buy It Now price of $7500.  This was 10X the amount the card went for back in 2005.  It pictures Shoeless in his White Sox uniform and it’s dated from around the same time of the scandal (1919-1921).  With the prices cards are reaching lately, I think it’s still a good buy considering the age, the player, and it's scarcity.  This example is centered really well and the picture is clear.  Of the one’s I’ve seen over the years, it’s really nice.  I was able to reach the seller outside of the bay and we came to an agreement on a reasonable price.  I should be receiving it in the mail any day now. I’ve made it point to have my kids read Ray Kinsella’s book and watch the movie with the whole family thereafter.  I’ll have to place the card next to the TV when we watch.  Thank you for the sale Andrew!

Card Details Below:
Year(s): 1919-1921
ACC Set Designation: W514
Set Name:
Country: United States
Description: Consisting of 120 cards, the W514 set is the largest of the various "strip card" issues of its era. Issued between 1919-1921, it is also one of the earliest and most widely collected. The 1-3/8" X 2-1/2" cards feature color drawings of the players and display the card number in the lower-left corner. Chock-full of Hall of Famers and the stars of the day, the set holds special interest for baseball historians because it includes seven of the eight Chicago "Black Sox" (minus Fred McMullin) who were banned from baseball for their alleged role in throwing the 1919 World Series. The most famous of them, "Shoeless" Joe Jackson, makes his only strip card appearance in this classic set.
